The God Who Sees

“For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.” — Psalm 139:4

He is the God who sees. He is the God who hears. HE IS!

What you see in this photo is the wing of a bumblebee-shaped garden spinner. I’ve been looking for it for two days. The spinner is usually attached to a trellis in our garden — an effort to discourage the birds from perching on said trellis and pooping on my pea plants — but it flew off its post in the last round of storms that came through. I found the bee in the yard, minus the one wing. Couldn’t find the wing anywhere. It doesn’t help that our yard is full of fallen birch and tulip poplar leaves, many of which are also yellow. It’s like trying to find a cotton ball in a snowdrift.

Yes, I could give up. Yes, I could go get another spinner from the local shop we bought it from. But James & John picked it out. Though I’m fairly sure it means more to me than them, I think of them and that fun trip to the garden center every time I see it. 🥰 I’d really like to keep *this* bee spinner if at all possible.

Walking through our yard for the 5th or so time tonight, I quietly prayed, “Lord, please help me find this wing. I know it’s little, and it’s nothing monumental, but it means a lot to me. Our boys picked it out. Please help me find it.” I kept walking, trying to look at the yard from different angles, hoping to finally see it  poking out of the grass, a tree, a flower bed, somewhere, anywhere.

As I rounded the last corner of the house, on my way back inside, I saw it. About halfway down the hill, peeking out of the grass, its special shade of yellow glowing golden in the setting sunlight. It stopped me in my tracks. God had heard me! Though I had faith He’d bring the wing about eventually, I certainly wasn’t expecting a response so quickly. You see, I’d already searched this part of the yard. Could have sworn it wasn’t there. But yet, there it was!

Friend, if you’re still reading this, I promise He’s listening to you, too. He’s never far away. Tonight He reminded me He’s always with me, even in the little things. He’s my God, my Savior, and my Friend!
